    In this three-week workshop, parents of teens and preteens will learn skills

  • to communicate effectively with their teens
  • to handle sensitive issues such as drugs,
                  sexuality and violence

                   (Ideal for three two-hour classes.)

                                       Kids today don't talk on the phone like we did as kids.  
                                       Instead they Instant Message, chat, blog, and surf
                                       social networking web site like Facebook and My Space.
                                       Parents can learn how to support and protect their kids
                                       as they use these modern communication methods.


    Children and Video Games
    Have you watched your child playing video games lately?
    Today’s sophisticated games are a far cry from the early
    Atari games like Pac-Man. Some are violent, sexist and
    racist with disturbing graphic images that devalue human
    life. Learn about the video game industry, and what you
    can do to control your child's access to irresponsible content.


    Teens and Dating:  What Parents Need to Know
    Do you know about “friends with benefits” or "hooking up"?
    Chances are your teenager does. Dating looks different for
    the kids of today's culture. Learn some concrete ways to
    support today's in their world both individually and collectively.


    Talking to Your Child about Sex
    Despite being berated by images of sexually explicit advertising,
    TV shows and movies, sexuality is a subject seldom mentioned
    between parents and children.  This class help parents address
    their fears and offers guidance in incorporating healthy sex talk
    into relationships with their children.


      Each of these two-hour classes can be scheduled for your school,
      church, or community groups for a one-time speaker fee.
             



    PAIRS: A Family Experience
    A joyful experience for the whole family in a five hour time sequence.
    Through fun, interactive exercises, family members will learn together how to:

  • improve communication skills
  • resolve conflicts
  • disagree with respect, love and humor

    PAIRS for PEERS (For Teens)

    This fun, interactive, six-week course addresses
    specific developmental and relationship issues relevant to teens, including:

  • how to cope with intense emotions
  • impulse control
  • family conflicts
  • peer relationships.

    Emphasis is on learning skills in communication,
    such as:

  • active listening
  • assertiveness
  • conflict resolution
  • self-care
